I have partly worked on the plans for the temples discussed in the the book “NEOKOROI: Greek Cities and Roman Emperors” by Barbara Burrell.
The book explores the concept of neokoroi, meaning “temple wardens,” in the Greco-Roman world. Neokoroi were individuals responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of temples, and were often appointed by the ruling emperor or local elites. The book examines the relationship between the neokoroi and the Roman emperors, as well as the political and social implications of the appointment of neokoroi in various Greek cities.
