The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) and the UNESCO Beirut Office organized a conference on “Modern Heritage in Lebanon: Opportunity or Threat”, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture.

A parallel exhibition entitled, “Heritage of Urban and Architectural Modernities in the Arab World”, curated by the Arab Center for Architecture and commissioned by UNESCO World Heritage Center, ran until November 17, 2017, at the USEK Archaeological Museum.

This conference brought together local, regional and international experts in the field of modern heritage conservation in order to raise awareness about its historic and cultural values, initiate debate, and consider different methods for protecting modern heritage on the national level.

This event, hosted by the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, took place from Monday to Tuesday, November 6 – 7, 2017, starting 9:00 a.m. in the Jean El Hawa Auditorium, and Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Rashid Karame International Fair in Tripoli.
